Fan-Music Videos or 'FMV's (AMVs/GMVs for 'Anime' and 'Game' respectively are more common abbreviations depending on the medium being used.) are a popular internet hobby among fans. Many say the peak of the popularity for the hobby was 2009 on Youtube.

 

I began participating with the hobby myself in high school during 2014. The act of video editing with songs and footage to make them match and match in a manner pleasing to the eye took up much of my free time during the year and the year that followed.

 

The height for myself was when, after forming a youtube channel with a good friend ("WAWNEProductions"), was approached and invited to join a group specifically for the hobby ("Beacon Academy). It has a good run before drama and life got in the way, eventually allowing me to fall into a hiatus. Now it's a hobby I occasionally indulge in to keep my editing skills strong.

I return to my FMV/GMV/AMV Days with my favourite piece of media of all time: Final Fantasy IX! The childhood game that shapes me.
